1UP: You see a lot of the new character types here, and you said they were based on gladiator types?Rafei: Yeah, we wanted to be very specific about what this world was about, that there was no technology here, that they were very low-tech people. You had all the robots and hover-cars and everything out in Haven City, and you kind of strip that out for these guys who are just barely surviving out in the desert. They''re so tough that they kind of banded together elms to become a race of warriors, and they don''t depend on technology. They do have elms a connection to the Precursors, they kind of understand the technology, maybe they''ve had a chance to dabble in it more and make weapons out of it.
